Not me. Scared ya.
I went to a Bridal Shower on Saturday. My friend is 41 years old. She's been trying to get her guy to marry her for 3 years.
She met him at a wedding. Afterwards he returned home to New Mexico. She called him and asked him to meet her in Phoenix (mid way for both.) She chased him. Within a month she found a job in his home town and happily installed herself in his house. I told her not too. You think I'M stubborn? This woman makes me look like a pansy.
After three (3) years of asking him for marriage (he declined) she started planning the wedding. She booked the venue and asked him to sign the contract.
He had not asked her. But he signed.
She bought the dress, picked out the ring...you get the picture. They are getting married next month.
But here's the thing.
She's having a blushing bride wedding, white dress et. al. She is going to wear a Tiara. A TIARA? a a
I dunno. To each his own. I wouldn't want a guy I had to lasso and drag down the aisle atop a white steed dressed like a cowgirl. She's talking about children. I had to suppress to urge to say, "So you're OK with having a Mongoloid"? You're eggs are old. Did you TAKE biology in college? How can you be so irresponsible? (But that would have been a party downer.)
Women today, have we lost our dignity? Further, are men the new women?

so does she tell him when to poop, etc...if I ever did that to any of the men I dated they would have laughed at me and ran the other way- maybe I just wasn't worth the hassle.
Mrs. K - She got her man but niether you nor I would want him. I'm sure he's very nice. You are worth the hassle. But you're a woman...you don't have to try so hard. hugs
Yes, unfortunately men are becoming the new women.
Men now are expecting us to do the chasing. I don't agree with that. It's an ego boost for them at first that just ends up in resentment because he knows deep down that she did all the work.
Most men are hunters and aren't proud unless they've worked for their prize aka female.
I think the man signed on because he's probably an older man, and thinks that nothing better will come along.
It's sad, but the saying really does hold true........ Men are as good as their options.
It's not just middle aged women behaving this way, either.
I could not live like that. I must be woo-ed. Yeah, I guess that's not working out so great for me...
You're looking at a future divorced single mom.
If she is willing to lie to herself - and her self-esteem is so low that she doesn't see how inherently dangerous re: red flags this is in terms of his feelings for her, there is nothing you can do but watch the train wreck happen.
She is more likely to have twins too. Twins with Down Syndrome...fun.
Well, she surely earned the right to wear a tiara! She's the queen of over-bearing, pushy women!
My suggestion is to buy her wedding gift that YOU can use, because how does she know he's going to show up for the wedding?
Keep us posted on whether or not the wedding happens!
this will not be me. this will not be me...wait. it is already too late for me, I am on hte slippery side to 50, so I am in NO condition to chase.....sigh.....that poor woman, and that poor man who allowed himself to get snared like that....I want a tiara too though.I think I will just get one to wear around the house.
I don't think I would ever do or even want to do anything of this sort, but I do have to admire someone for going after what she wants and getting it. I usually give up (when it comes to men) too soon.
some men are the new women. my friend got married last year. and girlie-girl-man she married was the one who wanted a big wedding so he could be star for a day. yuck.
OH my shit.
Did you end up playing any games?
I give it 2yrs tops.
I actually know someone like that!
The marriage lasted THREE weeks before he filed for divorce!
Okay, let's see . . . .
Girly-men are out.
Pro-active women taking an equal share in the "Let's get married" process are out.
Women pursuing men are out.
Sooooooo . . . .
It looks an awful lot like we're back to the "smack-her-upside-the-head-with-the-club-and-drag-her-by-the-hair-back-to-the-cave" approach (or its contemporary version).
Sorry, Gloria -- it looks like Phyllis Schlafly wins.
Hedgie,
Stop flirting with me. :-)
20th century women carry clubs. We can smash a teapot in 30seconds. We just don't WANT to.
Love is not love which bends with the remover to remove. Oh no, it is an ever fixed mark that looks on tempests and will club him over the head if he resists.
Apparently.
(Screwed that up -- lemme try again.)
If you think club-smacking and hair-dragging is flirting, then you need to see what happens when I really get warmed up:
"Ecstacy"Receptive of the rounded shape
I slip inside the hot silk
of your moist lips,
you gasp as pleasure bursts
from the brandied raspberry.
Okay Hedge...
Now you've gone to far. Romantic perhaps...but still deserving of a slap accross the face.
What can I say. I'm complicated. I've slapped men for less.
So, no more clubs or raspberries for you, little missy.
I can play hardball, too.
Besides, you have competition.
Hedgie,
I don't play hard ball. This was meant to be funny.
Get with the program.
I do understand entirely, sweetie. Just playing along, my shortrib of titillation.
I'm so misunderstooded.
*sniff sniff*
wow! she must be really in love with the guy, or just desperate to get married and have children. . but as they say, you gotta go for what you really want.
anyways, i am looking for bridal coupons, know where to look?

I am not impossible, merely improbable.
blurble
Men the new women, I like that!
Unvarnished? After 20 plus years of marriage to a really nice guy who basically neglected me (out of ignorance and some stubborn desire to "do what he had to do") for the first ten years of our marriage, I can't imagine why in the hell anyone would want to get married.
Wow. That felt good.
I hope you can forgive me - I feel like I just pooed on your carpet or something.
Damn... so that's what I've been doing wrong all these years...
Sounds like you better hurry though Charm... Hedgie's gonna get away if you're not careful.
Wow... really? wow!
Holy cannoli. People do that? Doesn't she feel embarrassed telling people she's doing that? I too am on the edge of my seat waiting to see if he actually shows up at the wedding ceremony.
So the question is, why are so many men acting this way?
Paul
