Balancing Eggs...even when you don't have them anymore.

I have a scientific obligation to inform you that the whole "can-only-balance-an-egg-on-its-end-on-the-day-of-the-Winter-Soltice...is a lie.

There is no abject gravitational pull.  Of course, I already knew that. but, ahem, I wasn't sure...so I tested the theory because I will go to unknown lengths to...um, help you.

So I balanced the egg the next day.  It took me 30 seconds.  It had nothing to do with gravity...it was just a good egg. Alone in my kitchen, I could do it.

I tried it with other eggs.  It didn't work. The point is, it's important to know when you are being lied to.  There is only one way to find out.  Test. Use your mind, not your heart.  Of course this is a metaphore for my life.

Don't people understand metaphores anymore?  Have we all become lazy and literal?

My blog is nearly all metaphor, so I getthat. And it's an interesting scientific question in and of itself.

Merry Christmas to you!

Put a little pile of salt on the counter. Put egg blunt point down on salt. Blow gently to get rid of excess salt. Friction between egg and salt holds egg up, but the egg hides the grains its resting on. Et voila! Balancing egg!

Merry Christmas, my dear!

This is a great post. I'm sorry but I honestly laughed out loud.

This is so true. Balancing heart with head is essential.

With too much heart, a person doesn't think enough.

And with too much head, a person ceases to know what love is at all.

Well guess what? The egg lied so I cracked that f*cker!

I agree - better to use your mind, not your heart. Why do I I always forget that advice when my heart is full? By the time I remember the metaphor, it's always too late. I vow to never get fooled again, and my heart makes me forget my promise.

What is the sound of one egg balancing itself in your kitchen? Or, if one egg balances itself in your kitchen and your are in your living room where you can't see it, is there really a balanced egg in your kitchen?
I love a good Zen riddle.
Merry Christmas!
